A Piece From my Diary that Feels Appropriate to Share in This Moment

Hi Friends!

s l o w  d o w n

A piece from my diary that feels appropriate to share in this moment. A hopeful note of where we are headed, together.

It’s not personal, it’s business. A disconnected mantra of our time worth some reflection. Maybe a good time for that is now. Work is always personal. What you do affects you. What you do affects those around you. When what you’re doing involves more than you, whether one more or many more, it becomes personal to more people. The effects of our actions are beyond our comprehension, and it’s our decision what we chose to do with ourselves in every moment.

There is an assumption that it’s essential to be as big as possible, reach as many people as possible, and as they say in meetings, reach critical mass. I always cringe a bit when I find myself in these meetings. I wind up with a giant headache. Being big for the sake of being big misses the spark that gives value to anything, at any size. Feel good about the process, and possibly have a lasting, positive, personal impact on people.

Focus instead on being good. Make being good, getting better, improving how you are and how you relate to what you do, be your full-time job. You will personally affect people. You will be fulfilled, every step of the way. And it will be profoundly positive.

Drop the pressure of trying to be fabulous. You are fabulous as you are. Drop the pressure to act out the successful version of yourself. Being you is unique, powerful, and full of limitless potential. Take your jacket off. Get comfortable, and begin in every moment.

Finding the right distance. It’s a practice we can feel out and adjust in every moment. Cool thing is when you create a good relationship with yourself, finding the right relationship with others becomes a joy. From @stralayoga training in Berlin a couple years back. It’s so easy to stick to habits that are familiar, even when they are destructive. We all have our reasons, our armor and our guard up to protect ourselves against whatever specific formula triggers us. We are afraid if we are more gentle with ourselves, we won’t be braced to defend ourselves, but the opposite is true. Moving like you love yourself in yoga and life is a choice to create a new, lasting habit, a way of being truly you.Tai Chi, nature, science, and the wisdom of your Great Grandmother, remind us when you go to war with yourself, you lose. When you move with whole self harmony towards progress, treating every bad habit you find along the way as a gold mind opportunity to move toward balance, you feel better, your body works better and you have access to more of yourself. You have a chance to do some good.I move like I love myself. It can start with an idea, a mantra, a practice, a way of being. If you choose to let it make a home in you, you will have gone to peace with yourself.
