I Had a Spiritual Experience in India

Hi Friends,

Well, it happened. I had a spiritual experience in India. Without going to an ashram, without dressing like an Indian girl, and without shutting off my iPhone for too long, I got the hit. I was invited to visit India by my friends in Mumbai, Bangalore, and Delhi at Reebok, to lead Strala instructor trainings to yoga and fitness instructors in India. We also celebrated the Reebok Yoga line and talked about how it feels good to move in clothes that make you feel good. . like sweatpants and cozy t shirts.

I’ve always been a fan of “wherever you go, there you are.” Yoga is on the inside and going to India would be something I would do when it was the right time, if it was the right time, and for the right reasons. Well all of those things brought me to the mothership of yoga, and reinforced my purpose.

Seeing the massive divide between those who have homes and those who don’t was just as shocking as I expected it to be. I’ve seen extreme poverty in other parts of the world and am aware that it’s our job for those of us who do have a home and resources to do something about those who don’t. I’ve always wanted “to help” since I was a little kid. Giving my birthday money away for charity drives and raising awareness about the environment through science projects and things like that. We all have inside us the desire to help. Helping others is what makes us feel the best. We feel whole, connected, strong, centered, empowered, and most of all loved, when we help.

When we step into who we are, cultivate our strengths, talents, take a good honest look at our weaknesses, we become equipped to be efficient and do what we are here to do, help in whatever way we are specifically suited for. For me, that has a lot to do with movement, ease, freedom, and helping people spread that to others. It takes courage to find the balance between purpose and humility, strength and weakness, support, and ambition, and to analyze why we do what we do. Our intentions are everything and steer our destiny. I encourage you to evaluate yours as we wind down 2013.
