Strala Online 100+Hour Training: Connect and Heal with Shiatsu

Hi Friends!

“You are in a position, starting now, to adopt the role of self-healer. By going deeper into the power of awareness, you can achieve the hidden potential of the healing system that you already depend upon every day.”

– Dr. Rudolph Tanzi – Chair of Neurology at Harvard and Director of the Genetics and Aging Research Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital

Get ready to learn the principles and practices of Shiatsu, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Traditional Japanese Medicine, to create healing through positive connection with yourself and others.

We’re all healers, constantly moving through health and illness, losing and finding balance in each moment of our lives. How we feel and act inspires and influences everyone around us.

Whether practicing with family and friends, leading people through movement and everyday life, or in your profession as a bodyworker or therapist, this course gives you the ability to connect with other people naturally and powerfully.

In this training, you’ll learn shiatsu techniques, ways of moving, connecting, sensing, seeing and hearing yourself and your partner. You’ll practice how to crawl and breathe, how to contact specific areas, meridians and points, communication, diagnosis, and how to choose focus in a shiatsu session. You’ll also discover that you benefit in this process as much as the person you’re treating. Each time you practice will be a healing meditation for both of you.

With more than 50 instructional and practice sessions, plus a comprehensive Guidebook to lead you successfully through this course and create the right ground for ongoing progress, we’ve designed this training to give you the experience of being here, together and sharing directly in this process.

You’ll work through instruction and practice in a wide variety of topics outlined below, and we’ll share with you the common challenges, questions, and solutions that always come up in our in-person trainings. We’ll also give you loads of daily practical guidance, to create a structure for inspiring progress.

Registration is Now Open

The cost for this training is $1,295. You can start whenever you like, and once you’ve completed the course material, it all remains yours for ongoing review and practice, whenever you want.

“Strala is an elegantly simple and sophisticated way to move our breath, our body, and our whole self into the state we need, to create who we want to be: the optimal expression of ourselves.”

– Dr. Rudolph Tanzi – Chair of Neurology at Harvard and Director of the Genetics and Aging Research Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital

What You’ll Find Here

You’ll discover the secrets and techniques that experienced teachers and healers use in their practice. And much more significantly, you’ll learn how to make these abilities a real part of your entire life.

Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese bodywork method, based on the principles of acupuncture. It has evolved into an innovative healing modality that incorporates movement, meditation, and connection. Incredibly effective for the treatment of common injuries, as well as chronic pain, disability, and disease, shiatsu skills provide a great complement to yoga practice and leadership.

We’ll share the specific structures and practices you need to practice Shiatsu and healing with touch, whether in a family and friends situation or in a professional healing office.

This online training is a perfect complement and addition to our longer 200+Hour Leadership Training, and 300+Hour Advanced Leadership Training, and also provides good ground for ongoing review and development once our time together is complete.

It’s also perfect for everyone who can’t make it to an in-person training. We’ve designed this to help everyone get started and advance with your practice and skill-sets from wherever you are, right now.

– Responsibility for Health and Healing

Who Is This For

Everything we do is designed to help people begin where they are, and develop the concrete practices that carry us where we want to go. So wherever you are is a perfect place to begin. This is true for all of our courses, including this online program.

I’ve seen in everything we do, with friends, co-workers, and family, that this ability to heal – both yourself, and the people connected with you – keeps growing more and more important. So if you’re just beginning on this path and exploring for your self, you’ll find the guidance and groundwork you need here. And if you’re a professional who is teaching or practicing in related field, this will enrich and expand your vocabulary of techniques and diagnostic principles.

Our graduates are a wonderfully diverse and inspiring group of people. They range from 16 to over 80. They’re from dozens of countries worldwide. They are entrepreneurs and chief executives, professors and librarians, scientists and researchers, studio owners and fitness instructors, yoga teachers of every style, psychologists and physiotherapists, life and health coaches, doctors and lawyers. They are moms and dads, daughters and sons, and lifelong friends.

FACULTY

Strala Trainings are all led entirely by the founders. Our program is backed by mind-body medicine pioneer Dr. Deepak Chopra, and Chair of Neurology at Harvard and Director of the Genetics and Aging Research Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Rudolph Tanzi.

Sam Berlind leads this training, and is supported along the way by Strala founders Tara and Mike. Sam is on the faculty at Strala, led and created the curriculum for the Ohashi Institute in New York City for 20 years, and practices shiatsu in NYC.

Sam graduated from the University of Edinburgh, studied Zen Shiatsu, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Traditional Japanese Medicine, and martial arts, and began practicing yoga in the 1980s.

Tara Stiles is the founder of Strala. Strala is practiced in more than 100 countries, and thousands of people are leading Strala in studios, gyms, and schools worldwide. Even more Strala training graduates bring what they learn to their office, team, healing practice, and across all of life. The mission we share is to help people accomplish far more, through softening and connecting with our creativity and purpose.

Tara has authored several best-selling books including Slim Calm Sexy Yoga, Yoga Cures, Make Your Own Rules Diet, Strala Yoga, and Guiding Strala, all translated and published in several languages. She has been profiled by The New York Times, Times of India, The Times (UK), and featured in most major national and international magazines. Harvard profiled Tara‘s work in a case study, and she has spoken with students at Harvard and New York University about her experience, and approaches to creativity and leadership.

Tara supports The Alliance for a Healthier Generation and the American Heart Association initiative to combat childhood obesity, as well as BOKS, which together are bringing Strala classes to more than 30,000 schools around the United States and Canada.

Tara studied classical dance with ABT Principal Rory Foster, and choreography with Paul Taylor original member and world renowned master Eileen Cropley. She is married to Strala co-founder Mike Taylor.

Mike Taylor is the resident healer and co-founder of Strala. Named “Best Mover” by MindBodyGreen, he’s practiced Eastern movement and healing techniques, including tai chi, qigong, and shiatsu, for more than three decades.

In his younger years, Mike challenged centuries of reasonable and well-tested martial traditions in hundreds of competitions, by applying unruly imagination to a world where rules were unbreakable. As he got older, he continued on to medical applications of the mind-body connection in university. Mike studied mind-body medicine at Harvard, and complementary medicine at Oxford. After running into walls with standard medical practice, Mike left his healthcare roots and turned to mountaineering. He worked at a steel mill, joined a web company, then founded a biotech software company.

Now Mike has found his way back to health care done right, helping people let go of stress in their bodies and minds, and become their own best caregivers. Mike still climbs a few mountains in his spare time, and is married to Strala co-founder Tara Stiles.

Strala 2023 Calendar supporting @thecharliefund is here for you. stralaapparel.comDesign of the calendar and repost @jes.lock“Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much”
– Helen KellerGrowing up, I never felt connected to a community. I’m sure many (and first gen immigrants) can relate; the feeling of being an outsider, of not belonging in the only place(s) we know as home.I’ve had a lot of healing around community. I carried the belief that no matter where I went, I didn’t belong. This belief was challenged when I went to my first @stralayoga training back in 2017 in Amsterdam.Even though we were all from different backgrounds and cultures, this group of people felt…warm. We were gathered together momentarily for a similar purpose: to connect to ourselves, to feel better.“How you are is how you lead” Tara and Mike’s words still echo through everything I do.Because for the first time, it wasn’t about proving myself or trying to be someone in order to fit in.For me, it was about finally softening into myself. Allowing myself to take up space, to be seen. To stop pushing and honouring where I’m at (instead of beating myself for not being where I could be)And around me, so many people were also unlocking their own lessons. We’re all echoes of each other.
Because as cliche as it sounds, we heal together. When we take care of ourselves, it ripples into everything around and within us.For the first time, I felt at ease in this group of “strangers”. I could feel the resonance, the openness, the belonging. And years later, this community keeps growing while spreading softness and ease. Embodying their values.Prioritizing their well-being even when it’s challenging at times. Because self-care is not selfish. We are body and mind.
Taking care of my body helped soothe my mind.
Taking care of my mind helped heal my body.So proud and grateful to be part of this beautiful community ❤️ Thank you @raebroderick for such a brilliant idea, thank you @tarastiles @stralayoga for all the connections, opportunities and ease.
